A Collectors Story
In 1970 I was stationed in Subic Bay. I told my wife, who was back in the states, that I had decided to quit smoking. I soon realised that I was not going to quit, but failed to tell my wife. One evening I was taping a letter to send back to my wife. The tape recorder was on record while I pulled a fresh pack of cigarettes from my shirt, unwrapped it, pulled out my Zippo and lit up. I never realised that all of the sounds were being recorded, especially the unmistakeable sound of a Zippo lighter opening followed by the ignition of the flame. When I returned home many months later, my wife presented the tape to me. She knew all the time that I had not quit smoking.
